1. Benden Weyr and Ruatha Hold are off limits. They may be mentioned, but no stories may take place there. No mention of published Pern characters is allowed. Moreta's Ballad is mostly forgotten in this time period.
2. Use of the names of any characters in the books are strictly off limits. Variations that are close to these names are also off limits (ex: Ramoth/Romoth). And before you ask, NO, your personas can not be descendants of any of published Pern characters.
3. All dragons live in the Weyr - No exceptions, no rogues.
4. All dragons' names end in 'th' and all male riders' names must be elided. (ex: R'vel, not Reorvel).
5. The only colors allowed are the standard five; Gold, Bronze, Brown, Blue and Green. Ruth was an exception and no mutations will be accepted or allowed.
6. No dragon has one eye color. Dragons' eyes are constantly changing.
7. Women can ride gold and green dragons only. Female green riders are rare in this club due to the storyline and are thought of as oddities and freaks. Male greenriders are homosexual or bisexual.
8. The books often remark about how much smaller 8th Pass dragons are compared to the 9th pass. So, dragons from the 7th pass were smaller as well. Variations are allowed, but none near the size of the 9th pass biggest dragons. This not a sign of the riders, but simply dragon evolution.
9. No timing it. It is not known about in this time on Pern.
10. No Dolphins. They haven't been rediscovered yet.
11. There is a limit of three pets per persona, and no more than one of them may be fire-lizards. Fire-lizards are very rare, with not much man power able to be spent on hunting down the nests. Also, low-ranking characters would not have one without a good story behind it.
12. Women do not generally rise above an apprentice rank in a craft until after child bearing turns. They are allowed to learn some of the craft, but due to the small population are expected to take a mate and produce as many children as possible. They are only encouraged to study 'useful hold related crafts'. Example, learn enough Harpering to teach the children of a smaller holding the Teaching Ballads or to learn some Healing to help nurse her family until a 'proper' healer can arrive.
13. The BoD may ask a character to change a name if it comes too close to a popular Pern name or is found to be from another book. Also, try to keep names 'Pernese'. They traditionally come from a hybrid of other family names *mother, father, grandfather, etc*. For instance, Tom would not be an acceptable persona name.
14. Posting Pass - writing and then passing the post along on the list for another member to pick up and write for - is not the way the club works. If you have questions or need help, please, e-mail the BoD and we'll answer any questions you have!
15. Using another person's personas without their permission will absolutely NOT be tolerated. If the person has posted about an incident that occurred in a place that is open to the public, and you want to write about your persona seeing theirs, then that is acceptable as long as you don't have that persona interacting with your own, or doing something not already mentioned. Any stronger mentioning must be done only after permission is given.
16. We don't require that you spell check your posts, or that you have them in any set style, but remember, to get people to read your stories, it's best to have them presentable and understandable. But we believe in your right to post your stories in the format you see fit.
17. Posts are third person, past tense. Please don't post in first person unless you are doing it as a one time deal, for effect of the story you're posting.
18. Chain letters, spam, and non-Pern related e-mails are not to go through the list. If you send something through the list that should not go through, you will be warned. If you are unsure, e-mail us! We're here to help!
19. Please e-mail the BoD if you are planning the death of one of your personas. Especially if that persona is a dragonrider.
20. Dragons don't often speak to people other than their riders. They can, they just choose not to. And they even more rarely mention someone by name other than their rider. If you want your dragon to speak to someone, or want your persona to speak to a dragon that's not their lifemate, please ask us first.
21. When posting, please use following symbols. It makes it easier for others to understand who is talking:

22. Post as often as you like! And if you don't feel like posting, no problem, sit back and enjoy the stories that are coming through the list. If you have a ranking persona however, please see that you post for them the club required amount. People will be given 2 warnings if they fail to make the requirement. This will be tracked by the BoD.
23. Only dragon names end in 'th'.
24. The rules are subject to change. Notices of changes and reasons why will be discussed with the club.
